I will assume that you have ...The cost is not zero. I will assume that you have never actually looked at what it costs to run an election. Additional parties in a primary = additional $$$$. The majority of the cost involved in conducting an election is related to machine programming, poll inspectors and printing costs (absentee ballots, etc.).
