Excellent explaination. I would however add a line or 2 about the supporting deposition part to explain what rights they have to ask for one and what it is.

As to your comment on hiring an attorney, with the change in VTL 1806, this means that a person could make multiple trips to court, making an attorney worth the expense even more.

And I do know of tickets that were returned for not meeting the 48 hr time, usually they missed the return date and then tried to plea by mail
